Was fishing the run-in tide on Sat pm with my 10 yr old son when he caught the lower fish pictured. It made an excellent account of itself on 3kg gear
Having spent much time fishing in NQ I was surprised to call it a pikey bream when it came in the boat. ...what the? ....and in Winter too!
Anyway, Grants Guide seems to indicate that the lower fish is indeed Acanthopagrus berda or a Pikey bream and the top fish obviously well known to all as a yellow-fin bream. as a comparison.
Caught on a yabbie drifted back in a berley trail close to a mangrove creek mouth.
Has anyone else caught these this far south?
Wow more warm water species! Its going to be interesting when the BIG ones (crocs) come in . Then lets send the pseudo greenies out to investigate them!
