Heading off to Swains end of this month. Has anyone got recent reports or advice. We will be fishing by day on dories and mother ship - 'Iron Joy' at night.

Grizz - how did you go last year and are you going again this year? How do you go on your charter? I am going late August on 4th trip and have started count down for this year. I go on Iron Joy, we have good sessions and some quite ones but always bring home lotsa. Iron Joy is good boat and dorries I believe this year will have sounders. I had been taking my own. Do you fish out of dorries and how are they fitted out? I am taking a mate this year who has done a lot of reef fishing in Cairns and we will do more deeper water drifts, so will see how that works. What has worked for you?
I did the Cap Star last year and I am booked in for the Iron Joy this year. Had the offer of two trips this year one on each boat but i can't fork out the coin for two trips per year.
One thing i will do more this year in the dorries on the reef drop offs, is have either a livie out on a balloon or a pillie on wire and gangs. Lost a lot of nice spanish to bite offs around the deep drop offs.
I also heard they are putting sounders on them all this year too.
