We are pretty limited in NZ as to what we can get, we pretty much the best we can get is limited models of T-curves.

Im looking at the Snapper Spin 722 (3-6kg) to match up with my Stella 2500fd, I also have a 3000fd spool for this reel as they share the same body and will be running 20lb braid on the 3000 spool. I do a bit of fishing each year in Queensland for Barra (yet to land one!) and want to know if this combo will stand up to impoundment casting?

I'm used to playing big fish on light gear as we catch lots of Salmon (King) over here to 20lbs on 3lb braid, and the wee Stella can pull 11kgs of drag so not too concerned about the reel (although not sure 150m of 20lb braid will be enough for barra???).

The Snapper 722 is 7 feet and rated 3-6kg but it feels like it can handle much, much more than this. Is anyone using the 722 and can comment on it's ratings? Do you think it will be suitable for impounment barra (not in the sticks) in places like Monduran?

Thanks, Andrew
