pursuit 550 for Mackay seas ???

After feed back on the pursuit 550 and how it would handle the shitful swell of Mackay. Any other thoughts on hulls would be appreciated around the 5.7m length.

They go well. A haines hunter of the same sort of size go a bit better. But the pursuits are pretty good value.

hi mate i owned one for 6 months they go extremely well took it out the cape several times in a metre plus swell with ease i had a toey 115 and it flew very good in a following sea and the harder you drive them the better they go give brett a call at pursuit boats im sure they would be happy to take you for a test run as they did for me they also are doin the six metre pursuit now

Hey Roscoe, It took me a while to find the right boat to suit mackay conditions and ended up with an old Haines Hunter 19R . The best thing about this boat is the fishing room and the ride plus these size boats are very economical . Been out 75 mile and been caught ,thanks to dodgy forecasts, in very some very nasty weather but the old girl has held up and just keeps on punching through it. (not sure if my knees will last though)

Hi Secret Spot - I own a 550F pursuit. I regularly fish 25 - 30 klms offshore in Brisbane. Morerton Bay is also known for its short steep chop. The Pursuit handles it pretty good. I have been caught offshore and the wind blew 20 - 25 knots. There was a good 1.5 meters of chop on top of 1.5 metre swell. Drove home at 18 klms / hour and never felt unsafe once. Had to cross a costal bar on the way home and had no issues doing that either. If you want more information please PM any questions, happy to provide further info if you want. regards Adam

just for a bit of info on pursuit boats,i was talking to 1 of the staff (now former staff)earlier in the week and unfortunately it seems that they have closed their doors (for now) as they and alot of other boat manufactures got hit pretty hard last year during the global depresion, so it looks like there wont be any new ones made for now or in the near future,which will be of concern to people like myself and others that still have warranties on thes boats, not that i think that im going to need any warranty repairs done. lets hope that they do recomence there boats in the future as they are a great off shore boat and at an affordable price compared to other brands of similar design and size.
