Looking to change over from trebles to single hooks on all my hard body lures for when i hit the east coast.
Has anyone done this with CD 14 & 18 Rapala's, Halco 190's and if so what size.
I removed all my trebbles from my lures in 2008 when i left Exmouth and moved to the desert. Instead of putting the trebbles back on i was thinking a size 6/0 live bait hook onto a split ring onto the lure. I have done kind of the same thing with poppers for GT's yet not on swimming minnows.
Mainly targeting Spanish Macks, Wahoo, Tuna and reef fish on the deep divers.
I use singles when ever possible, mainly these types.
The Owner Siwash open eye on to a solid ring then a split ring to give free movement, or you can put them straight on the lure, good for 8-10kg Tackle.
The S-77 in-line is a tough hook and only needs one split-ring, mainly use these on Halcos and bibless.
The SJ38 and SJ41 hooks are great on anything, usually need two split-rings or a swivel as well for extra length.
The SJ's and Decoy's work well with assists, except for toothy critters .
Gday,
I use the Decoy singles and find them excellent. 6/0 on 190 laserpro's from memory.
You can run the the tail hook on an assist hook rigged on wire if you like, single or multi strand.
