    What size braid?

I have a new Pflueger Torsion 60 reel (8kg) matched to a 6-10 kg rod. Obviously if I were to use mono, I would use 8 kg line. If I were to use braid, would I spool it with 8 kg braid? It seems most people spool with brain of a higher breaking strain, is this correct? Nice reel by the way and a bargain, less than $100. Cheers Winston.

Gday Winston the size of the braid you should use depends entirely on what you are chasing with it and the conditions you regularly encounter for example i use a 6kg loomis for barra and other estuary ooglies and spool up with 30lb braid so the line does not necessarily have to be the same strength as the rod capacity. So would need more info on what you chase and where before i can be much help

    On a 60 I'd normally go 30lb.

Thanks Guys, I will use it for bottom bashing for reef fish and the occasional live bait for mackeral. Cheers Winston.

    Re: What size braid?

It's interesting when you do a search i found it is rated as 210 metres of 8kg line, but what line it is not specific, braid or mono it doesnt say.

My ATC rod is rated 4-8kg and I can pull in 8KG Kingies on knife jigs without too much drama using 30lb braid. But if an Ambo jumps on I might need more stopping power, dusted me two times in a row last attempt - at least that's what I thought they were.. As stated, we need to know what you are targeting.

That sized reel is capable of 8kg of drag so you could go as high as 24kg line if you work it softly. I would be using 15 kg at least over a 10kg rod if bottom bouncing

Yes 30lb would suit this but you may find for bottom bashing you'll get dusted a few times. You could go 50 but may not fit enough braid and also snap the rod.
    I suggest 30 to start.
