Painted Cray size limit

I was just going through the regs, brushing up on my size/possession limit and I noticed the size for painted crays is 9cm carapace and 11cm tail.

Now just to confuse it a bit more does that mean that a single cray must fulfil both these requirements that is both the tail and carapace must measure correctly? Or will just one of those measurement suffice (eg a cray with a carapace measuring 8cm and tail 11cm etc)

Not really relevant to me, i prefer to stay in the boat, but just interested.

Mate, I was looking at the same thing a few weeks ago. I read it as both measurements needed to be taken into account.

Would be interesting to know why its done like that.
