Just renewing my ANSA membership on info-fish site and spotted this article in the news section. Did not get to read any further because I think I crashed the site in trying to renew my membership!
Anyhow, here is a cut and paste from the website. Well done to all those involved, especially Mick Dohnt and the Infofish team!
Suntag has just passed 600,000 tagged fish in the database. The last 100,000 fish have been added in just two and a half years while it took eight years to reach the first 100,000 milestone. Over the life of the Suntag program there have been over 8,600 fishers that have tagged at least one fish with Mick Dohnt having tagged almost 25,000 fish on his own.
Yeah, I think Mick has a prosthetic tagging pole on his left arm. In all seriousness, he is a dedicated ANSA member who puts in the hours on the water and has a passion for the tagging program, the results it yields, and is a true warrior for the ANSA movement and its ideals and ethos.
If anyone wants to get into tagging fish for TRUE scientific research, check out the Infofish website and read some of Bill Sawynock's articles...you can also purchase the tagging systems there.
