    REDS in Townsville

Hey guys new to Townsville but not north queensland been living in whitsundays for whole life except 6yrs in Innisfail. I do most of my fishing off Lucinda and am keen on any info that some1 may part with to help me find reds off there or T'ville. I've picked up a few but nothing like back home only getting them as by catch at the moment. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

there's a few nice holes about half way between keeper and grub reefs, 50-60m of water. Big area I know but I'm afraid I can't be much more specific as I don't have a reef boat. There's a lot of country off the burdekin in between the likes of Broadhurst, Banfeild, shrimp and prawn too. My preferred area to fish, though a further distance to travel, the reefs are a lot closer to one another and there's planty of nice deep water in between. This area gets hit pretty hard by the live trout boats though becasue of that reason, so try and fish deeper than 30-40m no matter your quarry

Broadhurst is about 110km or so from Townsville, Keeper is 70 Grub is 80-90km. Although further away, there are a lot more reefs around Broadhurst, so its no biggie if you decide to move from one to the next, there's only about 5-10km between them, so if one isn't fishing well, its not far to the next. Also more reefs means there will be more calmer water becasue the reef will break up the seas and make things more comfortable , there's always some good country that will be calmer and fish well when the wind gets up a bit. Also more reefs mean if you happen to bag on one species (like some reefs might be over run with redthroat), you don't have to move far to target another.
