hey guys just started chasing some jewies and threadies in the river. been seeing plenty of bait but just cant seem to get any hits. im using mask vibes and transams. maybe someone could point me in the right direction with spots and techniques. if you want to pm me back thats fine.
If you have just started all i can say is put the time in and the results will come, there is a lot of posts on the board in the reports section featuring these fish and all can have clues from tides to times what lures were used or baits, fish size tackle, time of year, there was some very good fish taken yesterday evening im sure a report will be up sometime shortly.
Persistence will teach you the rules. It ain't rocket science and not a whole lot different to lure fishing for bream, the same basics apply. You can fish the right location with the right bait and give up and move ten minutes before they move into the area at a specific stage of the tide, that part is what you have to nut out for yourself. When you score one, take very good notes on tide stage, location, tide pattern, time, clarity, and lure. After a dozen or so fish you will begin to notice a pattern that you understand.
I fished Bribie Bridge every weekend for a full year at night and still bombed out there, not one. Now that I have cracked it for there on plastics I can confidently go there with a 50% chance of scoring, a lot better odds than 52:1 i had before.
