Organisors give comp the green light

Organisers give fishing comp green light

With precious water flowing into Lake Burrendong and the capacity percentage climbing with every day, organisers of the Lake Burrendong Classic have given the event the green light to go ahead again next Easter. Over 535 anglers attended the not for profit catch and release competition this year, with thousands of dollars being raised for re stocking along with the cementation of the catch and release event in years to come. Anglers travelled from as far as QLD and Victoria to compete during April in the 2010 event, and it is hoped that next years competition will again attract large numbers of entrants which will again allow large sums of money to be put toward the bettering of our local rivers and waterways.
IWRA media sponsor, Thrive Media, has recently done a fantastic job creating the Burrendong Classic website, with photos and video from last years event, news coverage and stories from the media all being displayed for public viewing. People wanting to enter next years event can now down load and entry form by logging on to www.iwra.com.au

Mate, as we speak its just topped 400(GL) or 32% . Its risen nearly 5 metres since I got a feed of reddies out of the Cudgegong arm 10 days ago. It takes me an extra 2 hours travelling to fish the Dong rather than stinky Windy, but its worth it.
Only problem is they may well have dropped it back to 12% by Easter
for the cotton watering . Cotton where I am, and rice elsewhere are the curse of these great impoundments. If I could launch from the Cudge ramps it would save me (and many others) hundreds of km,s and dollars each year, but you know the stinking cotton will drain her every year. Its a bloody shame!
Just a quick heads up, there were 20 Highway Patrol running an each way RBT at 8am on the Sunday out the front of Wello,s new jail, and its not hard to be touch and go after a big night out even at that time. I think it may be a new "hot spot". I passed with flying colours. I hope to be back this Sunday given decent weather,

    cheers

Lake Burrendong's closest township is Wellington NSW, Approx 5 hours west of Syd. The closest major townships are Dubbo and Orange, both a bit over an hour from the dam.
At capacity, it holds 3.5 times the amount of water in Sydeney Harbour, so she's a biggun that's for sure!
It has oodles of Redfin, and Golden Perch, and lots of Juvenile Murray Cod are starting to come through the ranks, with fish up to 80CM turning up quite regularly now. Rumour has it a bloke even managed a 92cm Trout Cod the other day!
Its a great casting dam with the usuall suspects such as Jackalls and other crankbaits working well on the rock walls and in the dense timber.
If you would like to come to the Lake Burrendong classic check out www.iwra.com.au any time you like, Regards Matt
