    hi mate
i have one on a 4m hornet trophy, its been going fine for 2 years now with no issues. im not sure if they have quite the same build quality as the other more expensive brands, however i would have no hesitation in purchasing another, especially if you can get a good price.
    cheers

Do a search on the forums mate, theres a few posts about them. I've been considering buying a 54lb bow mount as well, seems overall people are fine with them. The aftersales service from JW has a few good raps too.
Of course I wouldn't expect the same quality as MK or the likes but it does seem to be a good alternative for the pricing.

    Re: watersnake electric

Mine is into its fourth year now. After three years the springs in the foot control corroded, and the circuit board needed replacing about a month ago. Overall, very pleased with its performance considering the usage it gets. Remember to look at the different mounting possibilities for your boat (I had to have my bow bars re-welded). Also, if you own a small tinny under 3.85 a 44lb watersnake could be a cheaper alternative.

    Re: watersnake electric

i bought the new wrist control version of the 54lb bow mount. nothin but dramas. the circuit board needed to be replaced out of the box. right is left and left is right on the foot control. the wrist controls dont work real well. it stops every now and then when it wants. think i got a dudd. so i wont be buying one again. will be saving my pennies for a mk.

i have an allycraft 425 reelmate and had to cut the rail off. could have shortened it and had it re welded but i ddnt really have a need for it. my guess is that the fish mate would be the same.

had a 10mm plate welded on the front for about $60 from memory from the local aqua welding joint.

    cheers, aaran.

[QUOTEdo the rails get in the way of mounting???????][/QUOTE]

First decide on where you want the electric to sit at rest, then see if you have to modify the rails, chances are you probably will. It cost me $60 to get mine modfified- not really a big deal. Alot of guys screw the mounting bracket on the nose of the boat and the electric ends up taking up surplus deckspace or ending up interfering with passenger space.

I have had one since i purchased my boat, its a transom mount 54lb watersnake. Seems to go hard enough for what i want i have gone against tide and wind and i still get ahead easy enough. This is on a 3.75 v-nose punt.

Mate, I did with a tiller steer mounted like an aux for years. Was a hell of a lot better than nothing. The bow mount snake would be a dream in comparisom. Got a spanking new MK i-pilot on the new boat, the anchor button is just brilliant, but I got my share of fish with the old girl,

    n cheers

    Re: watersnake electric

I have nothing but praise for the water snakes, I have a 44lb bowmount (only got the 44lb because it was on super cheap run out special) on my 4.10 alleycraft rhino. It psuhes it along just fine and it really hasn't had any real dramas for the last year and half odd i have had it. For the money you cant go wrong.

    Cheers Chris

    am on my third.
No not because they are crap, quite the opposite.
Upgraded my 44lb BM for a 54 on my 3.8m and the new upgarde I just bought has a 54lb'd on it too. Been very happy with them, only ever had an issue once when there must have been some water get into something as it came good later in the day. Yeah it was frustrating at the time, particularly as it was a comp day, but hey.........Shit happens.
Would not & did not stop me from buying another.
