If Paul keating ever said anything correctly it was: "The Senate is nothing but unrepresentative swill"..and how true that is. I think it is about time to change the Constitution to alter that. I know the Senate does not represent us..it represent the States..but someone should also tell the Senators this.

I have already made arrangements for the future.
I brought a croquet set today.
I suppose that's about all I'll be able to do for enjoyment soon.

I am truly buggered to know who to vote for.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

I though that the federal government's responsibilities (and powers) did not start very close to shore.

    .
Charlie, presumably you are stirring? Commonwealth Waters start 3 nautical miles from the coast (5km) and many fishers access these waters every time they going fishing whether in a trailerboat or big gameboat.

Secondly, with state marine parks closing access, fishers are forced to fish in Commonwealth Waters.

Thirdly, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is Commonwealth all the way to the high tide mark and zoning is due for review soon.

Further - the EPBC Act overrides state legislation and applies to every aspect of commercial and recreational fishing. This is especially true for tuna and Mako Sharks.

Additionally, thanks to ineptitude of the current govt, Thresher sharks are now fully protected in state waters in WA, SA, TAS and VIC. This came from an international fishery agreement and had zero input from the states.

Yes, I think federal politics does affect all recreational fishers and I havent even started on the Murray Darling Basin.
