All the storm water drains flow straight into the Brisbane river, all the crap from the streets gets washed straight into the river when it rains.
Former mayor Jim Soorley said they have gone from one extreme to the other with mangroves growing along the river, and I agree with him.
Forty years ago there were next to none now they are everywhere and so are the sandfiles, mosquitos amd midges that go with them.
They can chop them all down for all I care, we would be doing the fish a favour by not giving them the opportunity of breeding in the Brisbane river.
There is a place for everything and the centre of Brisbane is not the place for mangroves.
