    Another Copeton Cod

Went out with a mate early this morning,, would have been one of the coldest trips across the dam i have ever had ,, big frost in town...

Finished up with a very fat little 75cm cod on the same very reliable spinnerbait,,, much to my mates disgust as we have schooner bets on the first ,, biggest & most ..

In the end he caught a 52cm yellowbelly just as i had turned the electric motor off & was packing up the gear... Still got the 3 schooners as Cod are worth 3 points & yellas only2 ....

    Hey guys,
Did it put up much of a fight or just float to the top??

Some friends of mine have been getting some good catches of yellas out there recently.
When I used to live out there, we used to get some excellent catches of fish in the middle of winter on bait. mostly big yellas and the odd cod, so it shows that if you are still keen to get out on the water you can still have a nice day out.
I have vivid memories of near frostbite so I may just leave it til the willows start to shoot.
    Cheers, steve m.

Great looking fish Barry, well done. I also would like to know what they fight like as i never have caught one.
Looked up some stats on Copeton and it says that at full its 3 times the size of Sydney harbour. How full is it at the moment and just how cold does it get this time of year there?

    Gday Steve,,
Mate it hit the lure only about 4m behind the boat & did go a bit silly for a little bit but then came in easily,, the yella played up more...
The yellas have been going very well out there lately....I'm a bit like you with the minus temps but i want that metery before the closed season..

Some fish fight a lot more than others the 75cm i caught a couple of weeks ago felt like a metery it fought very well (nothing like a Barra).
At the moment the dam is at 6% but near the wall it is up to 30m deep, still plenty of water..
This morning it was -2 degrees but the week before last it was down to -6 a couple of days,,But the days are normally around the 17 to 20 degrees...

Top fish mate great work. Just wondering what the camping is like there if i took the family. Got the missus and 3 kids 1,4,6yrs. Go to boondoma every september and looking to go south from the goldy instead of north this time for our week off. anyones advice good or bad would be a great help. Or even other spots to camp and fish with the tinny in tow?

There are two sides to camp,, the short side about a 15 minute drive with toilets & showers but no supplies..
The long side about 30minutes drive has ammenities & a koisk (which i am not sure if it has been reopened after moving it ),,9hole golf course ,tennis courts...
At both spots the camping areas are a long way from the water but you can camp on the water if you like & drive to the ammenities..
