Boating & Fishing Council: Greens Declare War on Recreational Fishing!

    MEDIA RELEASE
A vote for any party preferencing Greens is a vote for LOCKOUT as fringe Green groups declare war on recreational fishers and boaters across Australia
The Boating and Fishing Council of Australia (BFCA) today warned all recreational fishers and boaters around the country that it was increasingly looking like a vote for any candidate preferencing Greens at any federal or state election, was a vote for large scale marine LOCKOUTS as fringe environmental groups declare war on recreational anglers and boaters nation wide.

National Spokesperson Dean Logan commented, "The current situation is dire and arguably the worst the recreational fishing and boating sector has faced in recent memory.

"The last 3 years have seen the recreational fishing and boating sector under unprecedented attack from cashed up fringe international based environmental groups.

"On top of this we now see the Victorian National Parks Association (VNPA) advocating the implementation of 20 additional no-take marine parks around the Victorian coastline on the back of a ‘desk top study’.

"The study is not only a Green attack on rec-fishing, it’s embarrassingly flawed as the numbers don’t add up. "For instance if you take into account the current numbers of boat registrations, statistics on usage and marry these with the volumes of fish VNPA claim Victorian recreational fishers take, the boats simply wouldn’t return to shore as they would sink under the sheer weight of fish caught."

The Boating and Fishing Council of Australia is Australia’s most unified representative alliance for the marine, recreational fishing, trade & tackle, outboard and boating sectors. Established to address a continual disregard toward boating and its recreational fishing interests, the Council’s combined membership equals 100,000’s of working family votes and billions of revenue for the Australian economy

Logan continued, "Our respective sectors are under increasing pressure and yet duly comply with the myriad of state and federal marine and environmental based laws that are considered worlds best practice.

"Moreover, 32 environment groups drafted a media release on 21 June 2010 arguing that large no-take marine zones around Australia would prevent a Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster. What they omitted to elaborate on is how fishing and boating families drill for oil. Puzzling!

"It is increasingly clear that recreational fishers and boaters in Australia must be very careful who they vote for at any federal or state election. Those that do preference deals with the Greens must be weeded out and exposed for their anti recreational fishing and boating stance," concluded Mr Logan.

forgetting the greens environmental policies..anyone that votes for them based on their other policies must think that Socialism is a marvellous system to live under...or haven't they bothered to find out what else they stand for?

That's it. Green on the outside but quite scary when you get a bit deeper into the policies.

How about launching a class action based upon the grounds of discrimination against Recreational Fishos

I think they'd be taken far more seriously if their policies 'other than the so called green ones' were not so blatently marxist.

    Oh so true.
I read their policies breifly recently on the recomendation of someone, may have even been here and you are right.
The only problem is that if Labor don't happen to get back in, or even if they do, the LNP and conservatives will see that the only way to get enough votes in the future will be to align themselves with the Greens and then we will truly be stuffed if we do, stuffed if we don't.

Unless there is an alternative voting "block" that gathers "blue collar" votes and aligns itself with the conservatives.

Shooters & Fishers Party.......at the last election the combined Qld fishing & shooting vote was 52,000. That needs to grow to include the "Hanson" voters...who now have nowhere to go and those in the mining community who have always voted Labor in the Senate but are coming to terms with how dangerous Garret & Brown will be together. It can be a very big number, but only if the message gets out.

Have to agree KC. I am a shooter, fisher boat owner and 4wd'er. why do all these outdoor organisations fight and splinter against each other? v

Stuffed if I know John. I have watched it for years and never "got it". I have seen blues between shooters and fishers, 4 by 4 drivers and horseriders, trail bikers and bush walkers and even lure fishos and Catch and release fishos blueing with others who go fishing to catch a feed. All the while as we have squabbled amongst ourselves trying to take the high moral ground, the variuos sectors who make up the "greens lobby" have been working away, despite their differences, getting on with the business of "saving the planet".......one marine park or beach, or campground at a time.

Do we care as much about our sport as the greens care about stopping it?

    Seems not!

Shooters & Fishers....you have a choice! Use it.

Aligns with conservatives? Its a difficult situation kc. Tax breaks for the rich, no choice re abortion, work choices, etc. The conservatives implemented the RAP on the GBR. Single policy parties are routinely ignored and the protest is but a murmur. But whats the alternative? The majority of voters want some kind of Pollution reduction scheme because the environment is so important to them. How do you overcome the majority who don't know/care about people that go fishing? After all, those mums and dads that make up the majority of the 880,000 poeople that fish annually only go a couple times a year and those that fish more often are very much the minority.

Re: Boating & Fishing Council: Greens Declare War on Recreational Fishing!

Your right about one thing Deez, it's a difficult situation and I don't have an answer. You are new to a "fishing site" which is normal during an election phase, so the majority on this site think recreational fishing, and outdoor pursuits in general are pretty important...same as the general views on a Vegan website are pretty pro the green party.

I guess my opinion is slanted these days towards the conservatives but this is born of lifes experiences, I used to be a Labor voter, then became a swinging voter and then with the value of many years of hindsight, have become more conservative.

Tax breaks for the rich? It's usually the "rich" that creat the jobs.
Abortion choice? Personal issue and abortions have been available in this country for 25 years and through both sides of Government
Work choices....Seems to me we were all doing pretty OK under Howard and a lot worse under these current idiots. I kind of find it sad that the red raggers keep trotting out "work choices, work choices ..the sky is falling", when 3 years ago the economy was flying, retail was strong, employment was near full capacity and business actually made a few bucks. I know it is always possible to find a few examples of ######## employers taking advantage of work choices to dud their staff, just as equally there are now ######## union heavies trying to dud employers but it is my experience that the majority of employers have always looked after their good staff and enjoyed the ability to decide who worked for them. A job is not a right, it is a privellidge. As a far sized employer, in a region with 15% unemplyment I love the change in attitude amongst staff who now value having a job, rather than just take it for granted. Just a pity I can't afford to employ some of them any more.

My big problem however, is not with Labor, it with the greens controlling the Senate....anti mining, anti anglo saxon, anti industry, pro unlimited asylum entry, this "mob" is the greatest threat to our country we have ever faced, all wrapped up in the "save the planet" marketing brand and too many idiots will vote for them with no idea what they really stand for and too many Labor voters will vote 1 Labor in the Senate with no idea the system will actually have them voting Green. If they had there way they would shut down the coal industry tomorrow and then wonder why the lights went out.

& finally yes, single issue parties are "usually" ignored.....the "fishing vote" however was not. Once we got organised and posted some numbers we moved mountains and it is a great pity to see it fizzle.

In my view........all this above line voting should be abolished...that would render peference deals nearly pointless.

so friends, regardless of who you prefeer....NUMBER EVERY SQUARE....in order of your preference.

this sends a message that we have a mind of our own and they we arent simply going to take what we are given

By voting above the line, this produces a view on the part of the parties that we are compliant voters for that party and allows them to claim a "mandate" for their cause.

I continue to my self and tell everybody I can to NUMBER EVERY SQUARE

Otherwise we have a discount democracy, we are the ones giving the discount and the major parties are getting the bargin.

Think carefully and NUMBER EVERY SQUARE

Um..you may want to put the greens last.

    cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.

This is what I do, it's the only way to make that senate vote count.

    (disclosure)
I recently put my money where my mouth is and joined the Shooters and Fishers party.
