driving the boat from GC to manly inshore can it be done?

    Hi Guys,
I have a 29 foot cruiser at the gold coast and was wanting to berth it at Manly is it possible to drive it through the inshore rivers to Morton bay the draft is 1.5mt and its a stern drive.

the reason i ask is it looks like i can make it but local knowledge is invaluable when it comes to sand bars.

    Cheers

My brother did a trip from Russell Island to Jacobs Well in a 40+ft, just by following Beacon to Beacon maps......

    Certainly can.

    Up the Canipa passage.

Make sure you have most of a high tide under you when you get to the bottom end of North Straddie.
There is part of the channel at Slipping sands that crosses a sandbank.

Other than that, follow your chart.

Just be aware of the go slow zones for vessels over 8 metres.

I went to the left in my 30' cruise no problems a couple of times and turn left at mcleay/karragara and following car ferry line and around snipe island and around coochie.

We do it all the time in game boats with Slipping Sands the main area you need to time the tide with for the top of the tide. Grab a Brownies Beacon to Beacon and it is your bible. We do it at night as well and radar is invaluable for picking up the markers as the lights can get confusing sometimes with regard distances to the next one.

How far is it if leaving from Raby Bay VMR to say the seaway ?
I am thinking of doing the run down offshore and coming back through the inshore way.
Where can you refuel the boat (unleaded) before returning ??

dont know about the run, but you can fill up at the runaway bay marina - a couple of kays north of the seaway.
