Fraser Island...offshore.

Well folks, my 10 day sojourn to Fraser Island is upon me. Jeez it snuck up fast. Heading outta town Friday.


I will be attending the Island with a large group of " Cochroaches "....

5 Boats including ReBait and 14 people. Staying in a house at Orchid Beach instead of doing the camping thing.

Missed getting to the island last year and have been having withdrawl symptoms.

Good thing is I can wear my Maroon Jerseys morning, noon and night and LOVING it !

We'll be fishing the southern Gardeners, maybe a little wider and looking for reefies, ( red coloured fish ) with the chance of trolling up a 'Hoo or Spaniard.

Ausfish members murf and Rob Tranter are coming along and will be my crew, if they behave and don't drink tooo much of that Moonshine !!!

Winter on Fraser is the best, with usually cool but not cold nights, light winds and sunny skies. Any wind usually comes from the West or sth west so the fishing conditions in close are great.

If the wind does play up, there is always the rocks, beach fishing, or simply bunker down with a bottle or 2 of Green Ginger wine, a deck of cards and a really annoying " Queenslander " attitude.

Yep, Pete, really big tides at the moment.

By the weekend they'll be dropping off. I don't fish on the anchor up there.

quietly phil my boat mech has just come back he to stayed at orchid beach they took the boat and done ok some nice 50 55 cm red throats they only got one red they could keep but caught others and some cobia but they had a ball oh and i saw a nice pic on his phone of a amber_jack took some holding up good luck and have a great time love your tinnie she's a ripper mate waring the rite coloured shirt will help mate.

The short one suggested to me that we jump in one of our 4wds and come over for the weekend to catch up and perhaps do some beach fishing. Will probably hit you up for a bit of verandah to roll the swags out. Give Mark or I a yell if you need anything else brought over.
