Gold coast sunday 11/7/10
Hi all went out for a look on sunday as forecast was favourable.
Went thu seaway at 5ish with no drama's sea was very good. Tried for liveis again and do you think we could get them to bite.
So still dark and off to the 36's, not a bad run slow in dark but sun coming up made it easy, still a bit off swell on though, probably 2m with bigger sets.
Fished 36's and was very slow, each hour saw a fish to keep so plugged along and searched around. As the day went on wind and swell died out just like I thought. Stayed till 3pm then was a full throttle trip back to the 24's.
And the sounder was lite up and first drop hit bottom and bang 50cm snap hits the deck. Fished 24's for about 50 min and had to shed a tear to leave, glassy conditions with fish chewing left right and centre.
Back at ramp 430 pm top day out, had a couple of boats follow in the morn but they manage a little sea sickness and headed in. Sorry they didn't get the prime conditions but ya just need a bit more commitment to battle on LOL.
Score in the end for the two of us bag out on snaps and couple of trevors and some trag.
And I had a surprise visit from a cobe that got me unaware while fixing a tangle,
tried to keep him interested but then he got fussy.
Also loads of bait on the surface around us at the 36's in arvo. And on the run in loads of bait on surface jumping whole way to the 24's.
Top day out but was tired when I got home about 6pm from a early start.
But was keen to do it again today. Except bloody work got in the way as per usual.
Sorry only pics on phone as I forgot the canon.

Good stuff Tim and good to know the snaps are inshore at last. Were you down by Golden Gate or those marks nearby?
I am out Tuesday morning with FTD so hopefully can make a good report from the 36's. I heard that 12 snaps to 55cm were floated up on the 36's today on 1 boat - all on pillies.
Cheers

Hi Plato, sorry for the late reply.
I was fishing ese of the seaway. Sorry to be a bit vague.
Our fish were caught on squid and 1 on pillie.
Mullet fillets were a no show, Sergant baker fillet was smashed for no hook up.
But my big Venus Tusk fish last week was caught on a fresh fillet of this little red fish, I think it was an Ornate Job Fish.
Good luck to day look forward to your report.
