    Sand Pumping Jetty GC

Does anyone know if the jetty is open all night or not and the cost of entry?
If there's fish in the water I WILL catch one.

Mate, I can tell you they will open 24 hours/ 7 days if people are catching fish, they want as much money as they can get out of ya.

If not much happening the office will shut but the gate will be open unless special circumstances.

So if the office is shut and the gate is open, do you still have to pay?

If the office is closed and the gate is open you don't have to pay as there is no one around to collect the $3.80 to fish or $2.40 or something to walk on.

However if you are still there at 6.00am the next day yeah, the lady or bloke who goes up to check the bins also carries a receipt book and wallet and you have to cough up or walk the plank, , should say concrete now

The jetty can fish well at times. This time of the year get your spot close to the end facing coolangatta way at around 5pm. Soon enough some tailor will come on the bite. Get your pilly in as far as you can and a very slow retrieve. They like a moving bait.

If you really get stuck into them you might even be able to sell some to the Vietnamese people that frequent the jetty. I caught 18 thje one night and sold off 12 of them for $1.50 eah just for fun

good luck mate. Living in townsville now.......NO TAILOR..... and I miss it a bit.

Yeah, I know that. Selling!!! You like playing with fire Kingkev, any person who gets caught doing this will go for a row of tents. There have been undercover fisheries inspectors on odd ocassion.

    Thanks for your input though.

All I can say is contact the pier and they should be able to tell you if anything has been caught, then again they only go what people tell them...The person in the office / shop writes in thier diary as to who caught what and numbers (last time I was there they were doing just that).

Bream, yoiu will get, try small pieces of mullet, stays on the hook longer, I caught 20 in half hour when they where in big numbers.

    Trevally similar, Dart.

Silverjew late at night as a rule . live bait preferred probably lot of tailor next week as the tide gets higher and nearing full moon. I'll be down there next week,

Stocking up on pillies and salting them down for a few days, Also striped bonito salted.

I might be able to go down sometime this week (most likely Wednesday or Friday nights, or Thursday during the day.)

PM me if you want to catch up down there sometime soon.

    Cheers,
