    Offshore spinning reel

i am looking for a good quallity spinning reel to fish 10kg braid, must hold around 300 metres of 10kg braid, words s that the 4000 symetre cant hold that much line, so how about the penn affinity or diawa, are they up to it?.

    Re: Offshore spinning reel

The Symetre will hold that much, I have one with 300 yards of 30 lb braid on it. They are a great little reel but not necessarily designed for offshore use. I've been doing it with mine and for the price it has been awesome but is now starting to see the effects of consistent saltwater use.

I'm now going through the same process as you but I may be looking for a higher priced replacement. I've done some research, what's your budget and size (or should I say weight) reel?
Are you after a reel less than the 400 gram mark?

A 4000 fd stella will do the job using a thin Japanese braid. A bit on the pricey side to set up but an awesome piece of kit. The small fd stella range appear to handle the saltwater environment well with routine wash downs and regular looking after. I have been using a 3000 on snapper and 10kg braid which holds about 250 metres of Sunline super light jigger braid.

I just spooled my saltiga game 3500 with 300yds of fins 30lb. Still pricey at $679 at complete angler in bentleigh , vic. It has 7 kgs of drag and strong as for a smallish reel. A pic of the out fit is on the "show us your gear" thread teamed up with the saltiga game 76 rod

We are talking big buck items here.

If you can find a TSS4 - they are great buys

I am also looking at this sort of reel. At the moment I am warming to a Stradic but the penn Conquer and Quantum Cabo are also in the picture

The 5000 sized Stradic is worth a look.

Not bad for plastics and throwing slugs.

What about the new Shimano BaitRunner D...

Not ideal for plasticking on a superlight rod, or high-speed cranking, but for everything in between I can't rave enough about how good it is!

ok, just look at the picture, you know you want it!

Yeah the smaller Saragosa should do the job too 10 or 12kg of drag depending what size you go.
    Cheers and thanks.

    Re: Offshore spinning reel

I was thinking of spending around 150$, has anybody tried the diawa excellor?.
I have a stradic 1000 and love the reel, its caught snapper to 85cm but my budget for an offshore spinner doesnt extend to the stradic right now..

If you buy OS you may get pretty close to your mark with the Stradic. It would double up as a great spinning reel

For that price I guess Peen Slammer or Spinfisher. Not sure on the Shimano Spheros prices but worth a look.
