Elusive Reef - With Nomad Sportfishing 27-06-10

Was lucky enough to be part of a group of very experieced GT fishermen recently on a Trip with Nomad Sportfishing.
We had a mixture of Great Weather,Great fishing and Great memories.
Some of the things we saw and experienced were pretty awesome and even the floatplane flight out to the mothership is seriously enjoyable. The scenery from above is incredible.

Day 1 and the fishing began with some really nice GT's caught amongst the group.
I managed some good solid fish coming on Stickbaits and poppers.
One memorable moment though was watching Eric Le Guyader's (maker of Orion lures) popper get airborn by a 25kg spaniard which he later landed.

Day 2 and the weather was again awesome with about 5-10knot winds all day.The GT's were on the hunt too which made for pretty consistent action throughout the day.I had a fight with one fish around 28kg which went incredibly hard and everyone was calling for a 35kg plus fish and all were amazed when one of around 28kg eventually came to the boat. Some are just rediculos fighters.Plenty of fish landed by the group on day 2.

Day 3 and things just got better with the same weather and pretty hot fishing action especially after lunch on the run out tide.I had a ripper day landing a nice cuda and three GT's at 30,32 and a fish on the 40kg mark. After that three my body was a wreck with a burning back, sore arms and shoulders to go with it.You do sleep very well on these trips.

Day 4's action was quite slow.I landed one small GT in the morning and some nice fish were seen and landed by the group but in comparison to the days before it was quite slow.

Day 5 and I opted for some light tackle action.
I had brought with me a swag of Gulp and the reefs provided some awesome light tackle fishing.
We encountered all manner of species and had a top day.

Day 6 was a morning fish only so more light action was the only option.
Flight plane in the afternoon and it saw the end of the trip.
To me the trip was awesome and Nomad is one super professionally run operation.
I will be back for sure.

    Cheers,
    Pete

    Pete,

That's an awesome looking trip. Can I ask how much that sort of trip costs and what is involved.

I'm not sure I could do more than one day GT fishing if they were all that big

Mate looks like a dream trip. Bet you were starting to struggle holding those fish up for the photos by the end of the day. Thought it was a bit strange you hadn't put in any reports over the good weather.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
