So now I have a 2008 triton dual cab!! love it. I like the idea of 5 yr transferable warranty.

    So far happy with Mitsubishi.

Lethal, what sort of suspension upgrade would you reccommend for a triton. I dont really want to lift, just make the ride a bit smoother. Been a while since I owned a dual cab!!!

    Cheers Steve
    Steve,

There are plenty of aftermarket springs that are available on the market for them, in mine i simply drop the rear tyre pressures slightly and it changes the ride dramatically. For good quality springs make sure you look at australian made and not the cheap ironman type as they are crap.

Jesus, have seen the same thing on a Navara, case of constant overloading the vehicle, they can tow 2700kg with styleside tray but they still have a load capacity in the rear of the car, would hate to think what the total weight would be.

I'm not a mitsu owner or fan, but that photo's hardly an indictment. I can't mention a brand of twin cab that won't do that if abused - and that is an abused triton.

    No.
Its just over 10 years and I don't think they it back then.

Nothing a couple of rubber spacers under the back of the tub and a For Sale sign won't fix.

I wonder if it would still have happened if his wife had a smaller arse, just wondering if there was a counter ballance issue here holding the front wheels down?

Yep too much counterbalance and too much cantilever. Well according to archimedes and his levers anyway....

All they need do is move the rear axle back and all will be O.K.

I still don't like the way these type of vehicles keep getting bigger payloads, heavier towing capacities just to get sales, it must be a fine line between make or brake

now don't get me wrong I recon Rat had this car overloaded but going by specs he most likely didn't

    payload = 992kg less the driver/ passenger
    max tow ball weight 270kg
    max braked towing capacity 2700kg

Lee, either my "stealer" is telling porkies, or your very confident!.
But he said thats just the way it is, and it cant be fixed and MMA won't look at it under Wnty as its only a squeek.

Mind you it can be heard over a fair distance and to the point of almost embarassing when people are looking at it because of the noise.

So if it's only a half hour fix, clearly you have heard of it before and Mitsubishi must be aware of it ?.

    Cheers

    Darkside,

Of course Mitsubishi are aware of it and they pay for it to be fixed because of that even though it is a squeak. The rear springs can get out of alignment and all they need is the be realigned, in the worst case on the ML they may require a bushing kit to stop it. Maybe time to come for a drive to Newstead.

Hey good thread, just stumbled upon it.

I have an NM Pajero. Set up for weekend fun and a bit of touring. Mods include front and rear bars, 2" lift, front locker, winch, lights, UHF, 16x8 alloy rims wearing Micky T ATZ's. BFG Muddies to come soon.

Done about 190k klms and running strong. Up for a timing belt change soon. Might give ya a call for a quote.
