    lenthalls barra rescue

got a call last week that the barra that went over the wall at lenthalls in summer were struggling in the hole at the base of the dam, there were already 20 odd dead and more struggling to survive.the fish stocking group got a few of us together and headed out to see what we could do,arriving we found dozens of fish just cruising around the hole and many more shooting in and out of the lillies.we attempted to hook a few on lures but this didnt work ,i eventually temted one but dropped it just before it went into the net, headed of home dissapointed with the result, got a phone call yesterday and wide bay water had decided to help with an electrofish man to come up and give it a go ,we electroed 22 barra out of the shallows ,none out of the hole there would be an estimated 100 in there .but thanks to mark vanner from wide bay we saved a few cheers AL

Did you notice any of the other stocked fish over the wall?

Or are they fine due to size etc?

Has anyone actually pulled saragtoga out of there ?

    Re: lenthalls barra rescue

great effort guys, i have been out there and seen them cruising in that pond except i was there about 2 months ago and there were at least 100 dead and i reckon about 100 or more cruising around in looking like zombies because of the cold water. its so sad that so many of those awesome fish are already dead. i love going out to lenthalls and nailing a few barra and its been getting harder and harder lately with the amount of barra going over the wall. i cant wait for summer so the fish can wake up again and come visit my boat glad that wide bay water finally did something, they have known about those fish in there for months and months and finally they took some initiative.
