i got the biggest snap g/c charter

am down the goldie with the family for a nice little holiday stayin at the meriton apartments at broadbeach,highly recomend this place for a great place to stay,booked a charter with true blue charters today for the youngfella and myself as i couldn't be bothered going back to brissy to go for a fish,this was my 1st mistake,the courtasy van picked us up from the front door of the meriton at the right time ,we headed off and picked up another 6 holiday makers on the way to the boat arriving at 5.50 for a 6 leave time,all other fisho's where on board already but still took us till 6.15 b4 we pulled out of the dock ,heading to the seaway i had a chat to the skip well he actually owned this mob ,we headed to the 24's and i looked at the sounder and it lit up with bait beauty i thought,he dropped the anchor and drifted back to where the bait was showing and the deckies had the rope already tied off on the front of the boat but had bout another 50mtrs of rope on the deck to be let out b4 we could drop,u guessed it bare sounder when the anchour pulled up tight,owell drop the lines anyway the skip says,ok give u an idea of the gear these blokes use ,my outfit was a 37kg overhead rod maybe 6ft at best the youngfella a 24kgrod bout 6ft both with tld 25 with am guessin bout 60lb mono line basically rope,on the 1st drop the youngfella gets a tangle with another 3people and this where i really pissed me off,skip basically told a 11yr old to his face it was his fault,even though all the other people around had never fished offshore and he has done a heap of trips offshore in my boat,so i had a few choice words to the skip ,anyway bout 5 tangles on the boat later and 1/2 hr the youngfella still hadden't got his line in the water after his tangle,he got another drop which he got a white travally and at this stage i think there where 3 fish boated in around 45 minutes with 20pl fishin ,so we move to another spot bout 500mtrs away same bugger all fish more tangles,so u guessed it lets go to the ol faithfull cobe hole,stayed there for bout 1.5hrs for 1 legal tailor ,mind u there where atleast 2 tailor what where undersized what where used for bait,skip said there allowed too ,my youngfella's catch for the day was 2 travalley,1 trag a wopper being under 30cm,my catch was 2 squire biggest 1 was around 30cm and biggest for the boat,a trag bout 28cm, 3 white travally,2 pike,am guessing all up the boat we would of caught maybe 35fish,only fish kept was the 1 legal tailor,and it gets better we are now 5-10 minutes from the seaway wall and at 10 the skip says pull the lines i we have to head back,back at dock at 10.40 so all u he jibbed us of atleast 30minutes fishin,oh and this is the skips thank u at the end of the trip,make another bookin and will give u 25%off since it was a lousy trip,sorry bout the long read fella's

bait used was rotten pillies and squid
ok so would i recommend true blue charters ...NO

will i ever get lazy and not come back to brissy to get my boat again... NO

rosco you asked last week should i go home and get my own boat or not what did i tell ya mate you would of had a better day but you know next time mate allways if you can be your own skipper but thanks for the story ill make sure none of my mates use that mob.

That's the problem with many fishing charters when a person is somewhat experienced offshore.

I dislike charters for this very reason, those that are the bread and butter of tourist centre charter operators will enjoy the day almost regardless... if they dont start chundering.

i know hilly,but was in relax mode,ony had 1 spew on the trip,same bloke stunk the crapper out as well,think it made him spew it was that rotten.lol

At least the accomodation was good, we always stay at the Meriton when were on the Goldy.

What a Joke Rosco! Sounds like a waste of everyones time.

Can't be a great deal of fun or job satisfaction for the skipper/crew either. Sounds like they are just there to rip off the punters. They certainly aren't likely to get repeat business.

If that was a first timers fishing experience, they wouldn't be too likely to get into fishing after that.

was 120 adult and 110 for a child,was a big group of workers on the boat for a fair well for a retiring workmate,the retiring bloke didn't even catch a fish,think there where 8 or 9 that didn't catch anything

No good Rosco, ya should of got the boat and followed me.

We fish a sth section of 24s then went to the 36s.

Got some small snaps and pearlie and big parrot.

Also lost some big snaps due to light leaders.

And 1 of the snaps we caught was followed up by something big and silver. Over a metre long, just down far enough not to be able to make out exactly what it was.

Whales were awesome too.

Sorry to hear it was such a bad trip. I know I told you to use Fish the Deep or Sea Probe and now you can understand why. Its a bl@*dy disgrace that the majority of boats operating on the Gold coast are so bad. These guys wouldn't recognise 'customer service' or how to help youngsters have a good day out but I bet they moan like hell if their car isn't serviced properly!

Matt Johnson (Fish The Deep) has just put on new engines so I know he wasn't available this week, but DO try him in the future. Tell him your troubles and ask for a money back guarantee if you dont have a good time. He may even take you up on it!

fish the deep had 1 boat still workin this week but he only had 1 seat spare each day so it didn't suit otherwise i would of used him
