Best area to launch for Seaway access
Hi Guys.
I have not fished the salt here in QLD yet after moving up from NSW.
I recently bought a smallish tinny of 4.4m with a 40hp motor and I am going to do a few days here and there offshore when the weathers ok.
I am trying to work out where the best ramps are for me to launch from for access to the seaway on the gold coast.
I live in Kingston on the southside of Brissy and I know of the ramps down at the Spit area but I see theres some ramps this side of the Broadwater at Labrador and also at Biggera Waters.
These 2 ramps would be the quickest to drive to for launching by the looks of the UBD.
Can anyone please tell me what these ramps are like for a Falcon and tinny to launch on and would they be my best options or is there any other suggestions.
Thanks everyone.

There's a ramp opposite the Grand Hotel I think. It has a pontoon and two lanes. It is directly opposite Wavebreak Island so pretty close to the Seaway bar.

Hi Duck.
That's the ramp I have seen on the map at Labrador which from what I have found so far looks like it may be my closest ramp with a short boat trip to the seaway.

A bit of a drive in the boat down to the seaway, but a nice easy ramp to use and reasonable security is the private ramp at Jetty Rd, Carbrook.
$10 fee
You could access jumpinpin bar if you wanted to go outside. I wouldn't recommend it without someone experienced there though.

Thanks for that sea-dog.
I will check that one out on the map as well.
I do want to get out of the pin bar sometime as well and have a look around.
Bar crossings are fine with me,done plenty in my days fishing.

Gidday Tim
Thanks for that mate.
We gotta catch up for a chat sometime and get the boats in the water some day once I have finished rebuilding mine.
I am starting to get real keen again after a 3 year break from the ocean.

Spit ramps are good, plus heaps of parking for the weekend traffic - nice and close to Seaway also.

Re: Best area to launch for Seaway access
There are a couple of ramps off bayview street, just down from paradise point. They are usually much quieter than the big ones and not always good for larger boats at low tide, so I often launched my tinnie from there. Seaway is only 10 mins from there.

Re: Best area to launch for Seaway access
g,day mate i use the carbrook boat ramp on the logan all the time to fish the jumpinpin the bar is a tricky one and local knowledge is the key here however if you look at google earth this will help you heaps to explain the way to go out but its coming in that can be tricky im lucky after spending years on airsea rescue at jacobs well we did bar inspections daily what a way to learn that bar rescues to upturned boats but if you are not sure dont run it mate go to the seaway its a breeze good luck.

Re: Best area to launch for Seaway access
Hi Guys
Thanks for all he info here.
Looks like a number of good ramps along the Grand Hotel area to check out.
Thanks for the info on the Carbrook ramp Hilly.
I will definitely look at that one soon as well.
I understand the Pin bar is a bit narky at times but I am very familiar with crossing bad bars in all types and sizes of boats as well as night time crossings so I am not too worried about going through the Pin or any bar for that matter.
I do live by the principal that I tell everyone,,,If in doubt don't go out.
Cheers
Lance
