Don't forget to get a NSW fishing licence before you drop a line. Ring Dave at Dave's bait shop for some tips.... http://www.startlocal.com.au/retailr...p_1285602.html

Just for a laugh, you get in the boat, and see how close you can throw towards the bank.
As apposed to when you are on the bank, you throw out away from the bank as far as you can. Little joke.

Hop in the boat and go across to the other side of the river or up the river towards the ferry and get in front of some mangroves and do a few drifts along them.

Or drifting along the porpoise wall sometimes works too.
    Might get something lurking about.
But take some nice fresh prawns so at least you might get a fish when the plastics don't work.

I hope Pommy sees this and puts some local knowledge up

    Oh dear......

hire boats are not allowed to go as far towards the bar as the porpoise wall.

Head up river towards the ferry, when you can see a park on your Northern side, about half a K from the ferry, this is a good area to drift for flathead.

If no good, try drifting as far as the RSL.

Good baits are prawns and white pillies.

Try this one, anchor off sort of near a good looking bank that you would normaly fish from land but be upstream and on the reel, use that lill switch that lets you reverse line out and , throw some burly out and let your bait drift similar to the burly, you'll get an idea when you get bites to where the fish are and when they bite just start reeling the normal way, fish as light as the current will let, I use the same style offshore and works for me, Good luck or skill , Cheers

    Thanks for that Muzz.
Something a lot of people probably would not think about.
How far up towards Wardell are they allowed??
