Always good to have a first timer get onto some nice fish, he'll be hooked for life now. that amberjack in your photo looks like a samson to me.
Cheers Gaven
Hi All - I took a mate out in his boat to Curri Wide (i.e. not as wide as Caloundra Wide) to the reef (37m) yesterday. Great conditions! Fish started to bite well at about 5pm and were still biting when we left at about 6.30pm. Great mix of fish from Amberjack to Pearlies to Squire to Baby Reds. Floaters caught squire and yellowtail king while paternoster accounted for the rest. Came home with a great feed. First time my mate has caught reefies so he was happy. Good fish all over the reef - Get Out there!!!
regards
Peter

yeah it could be a sampson come to think of it - the colours left it once on ice for a while?
Peter

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
