There are some around, because a month ago when I bought some at Morgans, they said it was fresh and caught out the front of Redcliffe.
Don't Know about down Redcliffe but they have been getting them out from Mooloolaba
Cheers Gaven
Brendan,
I got a couple in the bottom end of the Pearl Channel the other day - really quite by accident.
I had a paternoster rig down with a slab off a whiptail on the bottom hook.
Took me a little bit to realise what the small but consistent tug-tug-tug was and twice in a row pulled in a couple of what I think were 'pencil' squid.
These guys had much smaller eyes than the ones I usually get over south of Tanga - but they tasted just as good!
Also, walking the Redcliffe jetty last weekend I noted to my young bloke that there wasn't much ink on the platforms. In days gone by, the deck was half black with ink this time of year.
Hope this helps,
Steve
Yeah. I'm after the larger tiger squid, I know where they are but its long way out
Saw 5 squid hovering about 3 metre's off the rock wall at Shorncliffe on Friday when walking the dog. Must be some more around I'd reckon. Steve you're right about the ink on the jetties. Used to squid fish with my Aunty 30 years ago at Woody Point jetty. Great fun for a kid.
Cheers.....Terry.....
Brendon that spot i gave you there were cuttle fish there the other night. Did'nt have a jig and they kept getting off. I did land a few pencils {i think there a bit more aggressive?}
