Popper colour
I was reading a previous post from 004dam about suitable poppers for trevs and I was wondering if colour is as critical in poppers as other lures as poppers are relying on the splash and bloops for a reaction.

Re: Popper colour
I agree that the splash and bloop is what attracts the attention, but still wouldn't write off colour as a determining factor in getting a fish to strike.
I guess everyone has their favourites, but I tend to use colours to (loosely)imitate baitfish likely to be encountered.
There is a general theory that darker colours on bright days and light colours on dark days to create the biggest impact, but I guess anything will have a sillouette when fished on the surface.
I have no doubt that they will take any presentation on some days, but its when the fish are scarce or cagey that it will count most.

Re: Popper colour
I guess everyone would have there own opinion if you think a color wont work i guess it proberly wont but if you have faith you will use it more and adventuly it will work for you. I looked for natural looking colors. my first popper the small clear has worked on queenfish trevally bream only small specimens but hopefully my new ones will attract there big brother.

Re: Popper colour
pink, green, clear, yellow, red, blue, silver, purpe and black have all worked for me. i think action, splash, sound and speed have more importance than colour, but then again trevs can get real fussy on somedays and only seem to hit one colour. pink and clear ones seem to catch me a hell of a lot of fish.
