Left Scarby 4am for a great 50kph run with a near full moon at our backs for good vision to Shallow Tempest arriving just before first light to a 10-12knot SW. Good shows everywhere but bite was slowish, though consistent through to abt 10am shutdown. SnapBack plastics were the definite favourite accounting for 90% of the squirey snaps. We released just as many just undersize squire, indicating they may be starting to show up (hopefully). Moved up to Brennan’s for an early afternoon session with the kingies – they didn’t disappoint - some BIG Kings following the lures to the surface but no takers. Most caught again on SnapBack plastics with a couple on fresh mac tuna flesh strips floated off baitrunners. High cloud-cover all day kept the water darkish which seemed to have helped the bite. Strangely, not one fish off the jigs all day – go figure. Nice bag, with some odd fish (a pearl perch pulled out of 30m at shallow tempest and a Moses perch from Brennan’s), great fishing, great day. Back to ramp by 4pm, again at 50kph.
cheers, Mal
