Guys,
Just wondering where i can get some 8-10mm cable for an anchor winch. I recently notice for dodgy work done in the boat ( work done by the dealer).
need about 10 meters or so.

I would reckon most electrical wholesalers would set you right, failing that, maybe an auto electrician, or a welder repair place, one of those will have it for sure.
Would it make any different if i use 8mm2 household electrical cable.
Most marine electrical applications it is recommended to use tinned wire. Tinned wire has more strands and also is more flexible, and each strand is coated in a solder like substance. It protects the copper from corrosion, hence why used for marine (salt).
If you have a good leccy give him a bell and see if he happens to have any. failing that he may know someone or somewhere who does??
Electrical wholesalers probably isn't a bad idea at all either.
cheers
Mitch
Best bet would be a boat chandlery. Electrical wholesalers would probably not carry the tinned stuff. Probably a phone call may save you some fuel. Theres a chandlery over at hemmant in the little industrial estate just east of the southern end of the New Gateway. I forget their name but they had a good selection of cabling in there when I was there last.
Cheers
Chris
What current rating do you need matey??

Aitken's welding supplies - welding cable. It's what we used to wire up 12v lighthouses with and carries the current easily.

Ok.. Another questions for the electric pro's
I will be install 8mm2 wire to the front then to the winch. Question is can i link this 8mm2 cable to run my sounder and all electronics or do i need to run a separate cable to run power.
I'd run another cable.
Just in case there are spikes when the winch works.
