    Simple NMEA connector - help?

With all this wind around I'm gunna have a go at conecting the Furuno sounder to the Navman plotter via NMEA. There are about 5-6 wires to connect.

Has anyone found a nice little widget that makes this connection nice and neat? I'm thinking I could adapt the connectors used for the boat trailer to the car but is there a better way? Preferably don't want to use solder.

Have a look at these connectors:http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/El...-HM/sm-hm.html They are also the ones that you use to do a Suzuki to SMIS/Lowrance NMEA connection.

Think you'll find that there are 4 wires to connect.

these are pretty user friendly and idiot proof just push wire in and push button relaeses agent and self cuts into wire no stripping needed
i just find them easy for the small nemea wires

Is this NMEA2000 or NMEA0183 connection? The older 0183 is a relatively simple connect 2 wires, you just have to work out what the colours mean. If it is the 2000 then Maretron make a super simple field attachable connector that is simply a matter of putting the red wire in the red hole and screwing up tight. I used them to convert my older Lowrance blue connectors to the standard NMEA2000 connector. They are relatively expensive her compared to the States. But if you are only buying 1 then buy it here. You need to ensure you set a up a 2000 network correctly.
