PEtackle Trag and Squire on 24's

Headed out into a 10-15 E/SE off the goldy to target some fish on some newly tied 6/0 glow flys and Bucktooth snapper jigs.

Jigged up some liveys to see if we could tempt something bigger from the deep, but ended up just keeping the liveys for fresh baits for next trip.

Arrived on the spot and proceed to hook a 10-15kg kingy on a PEtackle Bucktooth jig on 25lb leader. Needless to say after getting it to the boat 3 or 4 times and just out of range for a gaff shot the leader rubbed through and the kingy made off with my bling and headed back down into the depths.

From then on (dusk) the squire fired up and we quickly bagged 5 good squire to 58cm on the Bucktooth jigs and 6/0 glow flys.

Once the trag moved in there was no getting away from them and we bagged out on some very healthy sized trag in about 40 minutes.

Had a very nice trip back to the ramp and washed down the boat at spot82's place.

Thanks for the trip here are some pics.

    till next report

    Cool stuff....
Does bucktooth jig apply any stink? or just jig without bait

    Silent,

you can add half a pilly for an added effect but when the fish were chewing they were slamming jigs without anything. A squirt of gulp juice is also effective.

Nice report Sean good to see my minnow jigheads hanging out the mouths of those fish. Looks like the Mustad needlepoint hooks handled the snapper OK.
I'll swap you some of my jigheads for a couple all blinged up with the coloured stuff

Will be testing the jigheads on my trip off Fraser in two weeks.

    Cheers

All of these fish were caught on just one jig each also! So 15 fish on less than $15 worth of tackle!!! I'm sure if you were using plastics you would have used more than 1 packet full plus the $10 for jig heads.

    Hey Sean,
Looks like you guys had a good trip and the tackle work we might have to try some of those here. It might make the difference for us when the fish don't want to play the game.

Sean that sounds like full on trip there. I,m new to off shore with my new plate console and a full on plastic nut how far out is the 24,s and how do the plastics and not to meantion the lucanus jigs. I an hooked inshore nd readt for offshore but need some pointers to the depth and current for my plastics and jigs as the snapper are on and thats my sole chase. Cheers Dave

If you ask me it just looks like the typical old snapper snatched re vamped, i bet you my bottom dollar you fished bait the right way in the same spot the fish would have been much the same, i cant see how coloured cotton would make an ounce of difference to fish that are feeding or not.

Affiliated???? It's his Company!!! The pe thing is laid on real thick (well for me anyway) but I do own some of his products but have not tried them out yet but a product should speak for it's self. I am sure we all know the brand by now???

In saying that he is starting a new bussiness and when I started mine I would have done the same thing if I could find a forum about earthworks!!!!
