Wanted to hire/rent - an EPIRB for 10days.
We are coming up to South End (off Gladstone) in Sept (maybe Oct) the dates will just depend on the weather. Anyone who wont be needing their EPIRB and would like help us out for either money, beers, carton rum/jimmy etc???
I can hire one from a company in Sydney for $88, the only problem is we wont know dates until we keep an eye on the weather and if we leave here on a Sat for example I cannot get onto the hire place to freight it to us in time.
I have contacted AMSA and checked the regulations on borrowing/hiring EPIRBs and it is OK, just update contact details for that period with them via phone or email/online etc.
We will be hiring a VHF - but cannot find anywhere in Gladstone to hire an EPIRB.
Please contact me for more info if you are able to help.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
VHF has to be fixed unit to be legal I think? Double check the rules as I think portables don't meet the criteria.
Some airlines don't like epirbs. New ones of some brands are OK to airfreight but the airlines may play it safe and refuse to carry them in baggage etc. Was due to the battery in them and the inability to determin if it was all battery or a bomb.
Chain stores have the epirb cheapos on sale at $299 at the minute
Thanks guys..whitworths have EPIRBS on sale - but a lot of money for 1 trip in 3yrs.......
Thats got me thinking what a good idea hire an EPIRB may be tackel shop might have one.
