    Stradic line lay troubles

Hi i use a 1000 stardic filled with 2kg crystal fireline and im finding no matter how carefull i am to make sure that line is wound under pressure it seems to bunch and then slip leaving loose sections of line on spool, is it just the small spool or is it a stradic problem?, or should i go to a 1500 size reel?, love the stradic but its very annoying..

Whilst I no longer have any of these problems I do not think it is the reel in fault. Try feeling the drag tension after each cast before winding in. That small action removes any small bit of loose line and removes the chances of a loop catching the drag nut and riding the edge of the spool. Once the habit is formed you will never again have this problem and you will not notice the effort to check the tension each cast.

I have the same problem with my Daiwa regal 1000, loomis 1 - 9 gram rod and 4lb suffix.Especially when i am fishing with light sot plastics ( 1/40 oz ) jig heads. Total weight around 5 grams. I find that each 4th cast i add a 1/2 oz sinker and that seems to settle it down for the next 4 . Its a PITA but thats the problem fishing light with a very small spool .

    Alleycat,

Maybe there is a fault in the line???
I have a similar setup with a 1000 size reel and 2kg fireline and have not experienced any problems like this.
Just a thought.....maybe try another spool of line to see if the problem re-occurs.

Solved it thanks guys, just had to add a few washers that shimano give you as extras in reelbox to the main spindle and it lays great now..

it might pay to take off the plastic back plate on the back of the reel aswell to see if the scroow that holds a pin in place for the level wind is not loose as this will create the problem you have discribed. dose ya reel have a bit of shaft play, if so then check out that scrooow lol
