Narooma Inlet ... where to go?

Mate and myself are going to give Narooma a go next week with our 13ft tinny, so pretty much restricted to within the inlet and surrounds.

Whats on the bite? any hints and tips of where to go? .... normally fish dead baits rather than plastics, .. dont seem to have the bext of luck with the plastics.

    Cheers

plenty of good fishing at Narooma, around in Fosters Bay is good for Flathead, heaps of Bream way up the end of the inlet near the oyster leases (and some good legal Snapper) Whiting around the channels, best advice is fresh bait, pump your own nippers the flats near the fishermans club (Taylors wharf) will get you plenty, or the big flats near the entrance in front of the caravan park also has plenty. Fish as light as you can for the conditions, one good hint (although frustrating) is the small jetty near the boatramp right near dark on a high tide, and fish with no sinker with peeled prawns, you will get plenty of fish, but you can see millions (the water is very very clear) so you need to be sneaky

Flathead, Whiting and Snapper all sound the goods to me, thanks, just the information we're looking for.

Both have the day off work, and driving down from Canberra, ... its always nice to go home with a feed of fish for each of our households, ... unlike the last couple times at moruya and tuross

remember you will need to work for the fish, it is winter and you can't expect to just turn up with a bag of frozen prawns at lunch time and catch a bucket full of fish, but good fresh/live bait, fishing light will get you a good feed no problems, I have had good success at the Oyster leases trolling very small diving lures as close as I can to the racks, caught some big Bream and enough Legal Snapper to keep it interesting, there should also be plenty of Tailor in the inlet.

Definately will look at trying to get some fresh bait this time round (have got some before, but still didnt work that well) ... what do you guys recommend?

Will give some lures/plastics a go this time too I think.

An easy to get and very productive bait is Nippers, simple to catch and keep alive, Beach Worms are also good, and very fresh Prawns, if you are thinking of looking for Jewfish (there is quite a few in the inlet) then live Mullet or Tailor will see you right, I use plastics a lot at Narooma, but mainly durng the Summer time when Flathead are around in good numbers.
