    Triton Mark 1..old gold

Just got my hands on a 30 year old Mark 1 Triton... had to show it off.
It has stainless gears and a fully machined spool and frame.
A bit of cleaning up to do and ready to go.
    cheers

Nice one Reggy,,,,,,,what line class were they made for?.......I recently bought an old Bantam 300 built in 78'.......it also has the 'Designed for profesionals' logo on it aswell.

Thanks Reggy - that is a nice bit of nostalgia for me ....... The mark 1 was the first overhead that I ever owned . They were so advanced when compared to what else was on the market (Abu's & Penns) ...... certainly a nice smooth casting reel ( mine was used off the stones initially).
You'll be happy to know that .... while I don't own that reel any more - my mate MW still uses that reel & loves it!

    thanks for sharing

    Hi Dan
The Mark 1 (narrow spool) 12-30 pound mono, but you would get more 30lb on the mark 2 (wide spool)
The mark 1 ideal for braid though.

    Hi Chris
The manual states that you can not get 10 pound mono behind the spool, a bit different than my old squidders and jigmasters. I couldn`t even use anything under 20 lb mono on my levelmatic 940 baitcaster.
The frame on this reel reminds me of my Avet JX.

Squidders were pretty basic reels - that's for sure & the levelmatics were pretty similar to the ABUs of the day ...... While the tolerances on these new shimanos were such a breath of fresh air .....along with that nice gold anodizing ....... it was really like coming out of the dark ages

    Hi Bert
I put 2 new bearings in it and replaced the end plate bush with a bearing today. Smooth as silk now. Think I`ll put 10kg mono on it and use it for floatlining too.
    Fast becoming my favourite toy.
