    Sadly The PC will be too heavy on the trailer. I have no interest in breaking the towing laws, and with full fuel, bait and kit, she'll push well over 3,500 kg, even on an alloy trailer.

    So it looks like plan B, whatever that is. Very possibly a CC685 Explorer, with a 300 V-Rod on the back. Mmmmm, time for a new thread?

    those new yammie 300's look very nice, and i imagine a fair bit lighter than the V-rod... but jeez it would go hard with a 300. If your going for an explorer type Cc, then the new HH 650R is in a similar class and will take a 300 ( wont have the comfort of an Outsider though)

    Too bad Tim, those PC’s are pretty good, and very well finished and appointed these days. I’m a bit biased though, clocked 1100+ hrs in the old 328 model.

    Mate, the fuel tank in the 685 Explorer is not big enough for a 300 V-rod . You know you don’t need that much oomph, but obviously you ‘want it’, so I suppose...why the hell not! I prefer the balance of the Explorer, but just be mindful of too much weight on the ar$e. Seriously, talk to Kevin at CC. He has just moved into a new 685 Explorer with the new light 300 V6 yam, and would no doubt give you a spin in it. Not sure what weight the 300 V-rod is but his old 685 had the 300 V8. His previous 685 had twin F115’s, so he should have a good idea how weight affects them. Just watch the bias from a boat builder full of pride (and rightly so).

    3400 was quoted without fuel and gear. Might save 200 with an alloy trailer, but add 500kg fuel, plus bait, ice, dadadadadaaaaaaa.....

    The 300 V-Rod weighs same as the 250 (and I had one of those on my Outsider) and the Explorer has 70 litres more fuel (option) over the Outsider. I had only an occasional range issue anyway (and that was only in my head). The new gen Verado uses marginally less fuel than first gen (that I had) and the 300 is believed to produce a slightly better burn over the 250 on this size boat, so as long as I don't flog it (which I don't) I may even see reduced fuel usage, but not likely to be any higher.

    The high weight bit on the Verado is true (31kg against the light Yammie, 15 vs the V8) but didn't make a difference on the Outsider.
