Just order one now ! Yep, yep and yep, 1770 is only how many sleeps away now ?
Andy and I had a stimulating time clambering on one of these at the Tinny & Tackle show. Anyway, as it says on my signature I'm busy planning, and this tub is climbing the list.
So I'm interested in seeing what folks have to say about it. I like the feature level (Mumsy stuff) and am very impressed with the way they've thought it through.
Interested in knowing what folks think about the power side of things. Standard is a pair of 140HP 4 st Zukes, but I'd like a pair of L4 175 Verados (175's are the max) and the fuel tank upgrade (500 litres instead of 400). The V'Rods are heavier, but power steering and fly by wire save a lot of that, and make the driving side easy.
Probably go a Furuno fit up again - I know how to use it and it's just so solid.
Loaded and ready to fish she will come in just under 3500 Kg on the trailer, so the Cruiser can handle it.
The floor is open...

I thought you'd pop up Mike - Raby Bay VMR has one don't they?
I've done 400 hours on a V-Rod. Loved it to death, why change?
C'mon, reasons, man!

Tim,
I don't think you will be able to run anything else except what is factory fitted, and Suzuki's are standard fare nowadays.
Steve Shaw is very fussy about how his PowerCats are set up, but you could always ask him. Good luck though, I reckon you will have to be wearing the 'Zukes.

Hi Guys
The 2400 version, of these used to have a bit of a habit of sucking mist up around the motors and onto the deck etc. which was probably made worse by the enclosed sedan style cabin. This I noted after traveling on one of the 2400s for a short period of time.
Also a friend of mine, who had one anti fouled and in the water with shore power to the fridge and battery charger and he led me to believe that in a short period of time the set up was able to destoy the motors thru electrolysis.
They sure do have a nice blend of comforts and fishing space though so if the issues were resolved nice bits of gear.
Cheers

What could go wrong.......................
At least with the Sport Fisher there are clears above the windscreen. I'll look for that suck back when I do a water test, thanks for the tip.
I will have to look into the electrolysis issue, as she will likely spend some time in the water, particularly when she's put in the night before a trip and hangs on the pontoon overnight.
Cheers,
Tim

You'll make Andy jealous Tim.
Maybe you two can do a deal for ordering 2??
Yeah I know Chris. Tell you what, though, I just got the full price list and I have to wonder - It looks like no change out of $200K, and that seems an awful lot for a trailer boat when I could pick up a near new fully featured CC685 for half that.
Still mulling!

Tim

nice boat imop, your on the right track with the bigger motors and fuel tanks, and like anything good they are expensive, but resale is pretty good too.
timi, the last time i saw a post like this from you, were you not looking into a prowler/ similar type boat that you had to berth??( me thinks i have missed a few posts since then...)
My 2 cents having owned 140 Zuks and now 300 Zuks is that they are a great motor but the 140's don't have enough torque for such a heavy boat, particularly if you are going to regularly carry big loads like full tanks etc. The 150's (same as the 175's) have heaps more torque due to the bigger capacity and can swing a huge prop which will be much better for that boat. The 140's are a fantasic motor and well priced but in my opinion are just too small for that much weight to be pushing around.
When you test one, run it at trolling speed head on into chop to see what the tunnel slap is like. I have never ridden in a Powercat so don't know whether the low tunnel in them is a good or bad thing - everyone seems to have an opinion on it though.... They certainly do look and finish them well though.
Good luck with the search.
