Tranducer cable - passes within a few inches of motor electric cables....shielding?

Hi all. I installed my Airmar P66 for my Furuno 625 on the starboard side of the transom. The problem is that I dont want to route the cable to the port side by running it along the transom and to then make up a new hole in the transom on that side...so I ran it through the transom's existing starboard side hole and put it on the top of the bilge pump exit hoses...so its about 3 inches from the motor's electic cables that go under those bilge pump hoses...from there the transducer cable is routed away from electric wires and cables and accross the inside of the transom and up he port side away from potential souces of intereference to the head unit...so my question is is this a drama and can I shield it using say multiple layers of alfoil around it where it passes through the transom grommet?

    Cheers and thanks

Don't bother with any of that crap.
The transducer cable is shielded anyways.
Some will disagree as it says in the manual but if it were my boat I'd leave it alone.

I have mine run over the transom and it follows all the cables from the motor and the batteries and I get no interference as finga said it hasits own shield in the cable, but I have heard that the etec electrics can cause some problems but it's only hearsay on my behalf , i now it's not a problem with my merc ...matt

Have a 90hp etec with the transducer cable run with other electrics and no probs.
