    Bananas and fishing

    OK everyone,

The age old question, do you think bananas are bad luck when going out fishing ?

To convince all the non-believers, post up your stories of what when wrong for people that packed a banana for lunch when they went out fishing...

    cheers

Definetly no bananas on my boat ....I also have a thing for ice - no ice in the eski as this presumes your going to get a catch - you should never presume....

no ice? based on presumption..you should not take rods, reels and tackles based on that also...LOL

or you could be like me..take forever to get the boat finished and not get out there..no need to worry about bananas or ice in my case.

    I voted..the superstition option

I won't eat the stinking things, never have, never will, but my kids just love them, will eat a heap, so I usually pack a few any time I take the kids out fishing and haven't noticed any difference, have had some great days on the water with the boys and bananas.

Just a load of superstitious crap

P.S. Won't go anywhere without my rabbit foot or four leafed clover, lol

Bah! Totally bad luck. I won't even eat one before I go!!!

Actually I am not superstitious, just a realist. In the same way I know that by leaving my trailer out the front, I will not be attacked by hungry Tigers. I haven't been, have I?

    So there.

    I voted no banana's.
It's all to do with the 'Zen' I associate with fishing.

How's that for dribble Gary and Greg??

Took a mate fishing to my usual spots (where I do get fish). Fished for hours moving to a few good marks. No Fish!!!

Mate says he might have a snack, pulls out a bloody banana........

Total for the day 1 stinking shark for 8 hours of fishing....

    Total believer...

    Re: Bananas and fishing

One of our most common urban myths.

I often take a couple as a snack while fishing, can't say I've noticed any difference.

The problems with bananas is that they give out a chemical that speeds up the ripening of other fruit & vegs. So in the old sailing days, having them on board would make other supplies ripen / go off faster.

I am a believer. I check with all new crew members as to banana produce before the trip.

    Re: Bananas and fishing

I put one on Nagg's boat a few trips back at Mondy. Placed it stategically by the landing net so he would find it next barra. But it fell into a cavity and he found it rotten two weeks later !!! So - yes - unlucky for Nagg .
