Can I get an ID in this monster please? Mate caught this beast in the northern end of Moreton Bay. He claims it was about 25-30kg and about 1.8m long!
And for the record, it was released happily after he took this snap.
Cheers!

Thats a cuda, ya mate would of known he had that bugger hooked..
What a good fight that would have been.
Was surprised to see no loss of digits either. If they didn't know what it was they not have known it's reputation for sharp teeth
Barracuda, best to be put back, taste like crap at any size, that is a good one though, they are a known carrier of the cigutera toxin

Nice cuda mate. woulda been a great tussle.
cuzza
Thanks all.
Thankfully common sense prevailed and he stayed away from the pointy end.
Took him best part of 45 minutes to wrangle it in.
Was released back to the water after a few quick snaps.

I've never caught one that big but have caught a few 5 - 10 kg in NW WA and have to say they where very poor fighters up there. They'll pull a bit at the start and then just float along like a log ... might have been a different model??
Yeah, there are big cudas in Moreton Bay. Been buzzed by four BIG suckers when diving at Curtin, that got the heart going a bit!
Your mate would have had fun pulling it in.
Bloody leader cutters.
