last month went down to tassie to catch up with family and show a great mate and his parents around a bit of the state ,they flew over from canada .met all the crew up in the highlands at one of the hotels in the area, weather was cold and windy normal for this time of year.the lake we were stopping at was bronte lagoon a great little lake with trout to around 4lb both browns and rainbows .fished out around a comp called the eddy wingston memorial and came second the nephew won a nice fly combo for the biggest brown for juniors.we fished the lee shores to land a couple of feisty browns and one beautiful colored rainbow ,we used suspending minnows and eco gear bibless minnows.i introduced my brotherinlaw to these lures a few years back and he has absolutley killed them since.he has fished a couple of local comps amd no one has come close to him. down there they are very one dimentional in there fishing, wont change..the weather turned for the worse so not much fishing was done ,we had a chance to fish a couple of the streams along the west coast side for 2 dropped browns on fly.spent some time in the mining areas looking about and fished strahan beach for some small cocky salmon .great to get back down there but even better to arrive back into hervey bay .
