Assuming that you're looking for an all-rounder (rocks, river, boat) fishing 12-20lbs mono or 20-30lbs braid, you can't go wrong with the sealine bull, but it's one heavy mamma!

Others to consider would be (imo):
    Penn Slammer $159
    Okuma Salina $179
    Shimano Spheros $185
    Shimano BaitRunner $175 (BTR) - $229 (D)

Personally I reckon that everyone should have at least one Shimano BaitRunner!

Spinning from the rocks you need a reel that can handle the knocks.
    That Daiwa is superb!
I have a Penn Spinfisher all-metal. Heavy yes .... but will go the distance for many many years.

I have a number of spinfishers and keep going back to them. Just make sure that whatever you get is fast enough for the spinning you do. I found the SS at 4.8 to 1 speed is too slow for high speed tuna spinning. My mate had an overhead 6 to 1 and beat me everytime.

For spinning don't go past anything that is below 6.1. Speed is the secret to spinning and without it you are wasting your time

have a crack on ebay and classifieds and see if you can pick up a Shimano TSS4. It might sell for a higher price you would expect for an old reel but has great line length retrieval per crank of the handle, casts well and is pretty tough. it's a old classic reel designed for your purpose of spinning.

i saw one on there for $200 about six months ago. bit hard to find now though.

    cheers
