Gladstone harbour is full of sandbars and if you are planning on heading up the narrows to sea hill you run out of water south of Ramsays crossing on low tides.
try to get Patricks Cruising the Curtis coast for a good reference for sandbars etc.
If you are looking at heading out through North entrance just follow the leads. When you get to farmers reef there is two markers on Farmers to line up to get you on the right heading to avoid the bommies and there are another two markers on facing to line up to head out. If you try to take short cuts on low water you might remodel your prop a little
Should be plenty of boats heading out just follow the mob.
Give the second red marker after quoin island going out a wide berth or you can expect a wait on the sand until you get enough water. (been there done that)

Just be careful if you come back through north entrance of a night time as the channel marker lights blend in with all the city and industrial lights, and make it a nightmare if you are unfamiliar with the harbour. I have seen a few big boats over the years on the pelican banks also. The sand back at the red marker before the gut can be driven over at about half tide but like mango said follow the locals.
