Rod repairs Redcliffe area.....

Can anyone suggest a quality rod builder/repairer in the Redcliffe area or there abouts, dont mind a small drive for quality workmanship?

will second that one he is a good rod builder and does good repairs a cantankorous old bugger at times but a good bloke and is normally fair on price you may have to wait a week or 2 depending on how busy he is

Dont have a problem with John Pope. Dropped a rod in to have a couple of guides replaced. Forgot i dropped it in. got a phone call about 3 weeks later...do you want his rod or what?. went and picked it up (had forgotten cos it was my mums rod...and she never uses it...was sitting in the garage gathering dust cos it had a couple of crook guides)...$20 later and i couldnt even tell which guides had been replaced.

Yes he is a cranky old fart. He doesnt suffer fools or braggarts. He knows how to build and repair rods. And he knows the waters in and around the peninsula better than most would ever dream of knowing.

I am a custom rod builder (though homeless and without resources at the moment) living on the peninsula. If i wanted a rod fixed....its going to John Pope.

In my very limited dealings with the gentleman at his business premises I found him rude, cranky, rude, short tempered, rude, not interested in any ones opinion or input on anything cause he knows better apparently, and down right rude.

I agree mate but he does good work and for that i am willing to put up with his crap he even gangs my tailor rigs for me with his pliers if i put them together saves my hands ,I think he just takes a bit of getting use to but he is always in a hurry to have you out the shop so he can get back to the rod building out the back

I my self Have never had a issue with John,

I have now known him for about 7yrs and have even woken him up to have fished weighed before heading home ,

I have occasionally been stranded there for 6-7hrs talking about fishing and life experiences ,

Found him to be very straight forward and honest Bloke,
does good rod repairs and cant fault his work ,

Try Giving Ant72 a PM , he does all my rod work now and his time , quality , help and knowledge is well worth it ,
