quiet river or was it just me Sun 23rd

Went for a sesh on the river this morning throwing plastics and Hard bodies. I couldn't believe how quiet I found it. I don't know if any of you other fellas were chasing bream . I put in cast after cast to land 3 bream for the day:grin: but that was it. At least the bream were not bad wityh the smallest just squeezing 30 and the bigger ones going 35 and 36 cm. Never hit an undersize fish. I threw pastics at the walls and pylons, worked about 6 spots that normally provide and finally scored my fish on D40Fs on 4 bl leader but that was it. That wind didn't help but it wasn't really an excuse. I had Chubbies, SX48s swimming perfect in those fishy places but No takers. I was given strict instructions by my daughter to bring a few bream home for her:undecided: so I just scraped in:grin: .

It is very easy to explain, Chief. The bream had either gone to the woodworking show at the Ekka or to the boat show at Sanctuary Cove or they had heard of cheap Shimano reels being sold by a Brissy dealer yesterday and did not want to take any chances out there today.

    004DAM... Brissie river champ

Jesse148... Had a bit on. got your text the other day will get back to you mate and I'll tell you all about it when I see you You know first sign is the smaller bream tend to dissapear leaving a few bigger models around and we have a quiet spot and then the squire take over and begin to turn it on in numbers. Roll on winter

Bruce...What a weekend for you mate, Boat shows, Wood work and cheap tackle you would have been in heaven

Yup - actually did two of them in the one day. Not so keen on the Sanctuary Cove boat show. It gets a bit crowded and I miss the fishing seminars.

    You did alright though, Chief.

Chief you summed it up perfectly. (Nice bream btw!)

2 months ago i fished the brissie for 2 dozen really small fish, and was frustrated i could not manage a legal.

Then the bigger models moved in and we got a mix of big and small a month ago, and my best ever session, thought i had it all sussed it out.

Last time out just the one quality bream  and no squire  .

Throw in all the out of bounds breamin areas it's no wonder not many of us just chase the bream down there!!

    Mick.

    Chief,
It has been abit quiet of late, But yeah me and my mate managed to pull in 7 bream off the walls and pylons on saturday, most around the 25-27 mark and got 2 @ 30-32cm. Got them on Sp's and also a few on my new D40f's. We fished from breaky creek upwards for about 2 hours no bites, then I pulled the pin and went to my favourite spots around the mouth... No cod, no talior or little squire which was strange for a river session.... Was very few other boats out on saturday.

We fished scarborough reef saturday night and it was just as dead, called it quits after about 3 hours and only 1 bream landed.
I think like you said chief we are in that in-between period where the water temp is maybe still too warm?

hi paul, i went out in the bay saturday morn for nil. I think its the westerly winds making the water clear(in the bay anyway) and the fish get very shy imo.Anyway its good to get out and about for the day, nice bream too 35 and 36 are nice fish.Hows agent orange going, have you sorted out the wiring probs?
