As a Pro fisherman I have seen over the years the effect sites like this have on certain areas over the SE Qld Coast. I would have to say i am fed up with the amateur attitude of offshore fisho's who don't respect each other and give each other space, both on ramps and 50km + offshore
I have seen Mooloolaba turn into a heavily fished area, with trailers seen parked 500m + down the road from ramps where good parking already is. I won't fish here on weekends as the amateurs around are just dangerous not to mention just plain frustraiting
I have seen ramps at for the wide Bay bar and further north over full which has never been the case for years on end.
1770 has grown out of control with boats from as far south at the NSW boarder making the run on weekends when the weekend is good. The locals as much as the regular fisho's have had a gut full of the amateurs coming from Brisbane and places and going on about how many fish they nailed.
Not meaning to single people out but Posts Like (Spot82 - sorry mate, no harm inended) put heavy fishing pressure on areas like 1770. It's not hard to catch Reds, snapper, trout anything. you don't need flash lures, thin line, latest reels or anything. I know a very good friend who is a pro who leaves from Bribie(Spinnerker Sound) who catches some very nice fish including some good reds. The main thing you need is Hours on the water. Any amateur can fish places like 1770 and Di and fill the esky's with Reds.
I'm not saying don't post your report, let's just keep areas quiet. Talk more about technique, bait ,tide, moon phase.
Over the years I have seen some good fisherman posts some good reports and these guys have quickly realised that giving away secrets add heavy fishing pressure to reefs. E.G The hards - most people 6 years ago had never heard of this area, now all weekend warriors make there way there. A few years ago there was a "Hot" Snapper bite happen of the Sunshine Coast which saw boats from all over the SEQ and further South hit the Mooloolaba area. From that year Snapper fishing has been hit and miss.
I know it pumps your ego when people pat you on the back, but if 30 people give you a rap, then 3,000 people have seen where you have gone.
Believe it or not but even Pros will work differant marks. A few fish from here and few fish from there.
What do you think? I'm sure some of the old guys who use to post can comment.
