    5 lb tailor

Caught this 65cm tailor on a popper at night off the rocks just ten mins drive from my house. I also caught a 58cm tailor on a pillie. No luck with the jewies on hard bodies but I will try again soon (full moon approaching).

    Excellent, well done Carnster,

I guess this one was like a speed train with a few good head shakes.

What type of surface popper was you using?

    haha.

they have to classed a greenback at some point ? :undecided: too big for a livie at 5lb surely. maybe that should be your new classification. live bait size is a chopper, over live bait size is a greenback ?

    Re: 5 lb tailor

Nah scott 5lb is ok for a big mack...hard to cast though. Had one about that big eaten at Iluka a few years back, never saw the fish, 30minutes on 15kg, had it at the rocks down deep a rush of blood and the line popped. Have a look at the mack on Bretts wall, it would have no prob eating a 5lb tailor....yes they are greenbacks at that size... greenback choppers

nice one Chris ..... looks way bigger than 5lb in the pic :-)
..... just more proof that the Goldie still has the goods !!

Hope the marking gets done so you can get back to the Jew-hunt!!
Will let u know when I head out again.
There is HEAPS of bird/bait action off all the beaches at the mo .... was at a fundraising walk all day from Southport to Cooly, and it was working almost all the way down the coast :-)
Now all I need is a gap to get down there!!

    Double-yoo - OH - Double-yoo, spells WOW!

You lucky duckies.... I'm o/s for work just now & won't be hitting the coast until July. At least I'll get to wet some line over July-August.

Just hope you blokes leave some in there for me to catch.

I remember this time last year, all the threads were saying "Where are the tailor?"

So, I wonder what's so different this year to make them be around in numbers...
